18 month checkup

Waverly is fever free and feelin' fine! She had her 18 month checkup today with the best pediatrician in the world, Dr. Dudley Stone!! Waverly did not have a fever, ears looked great, and no strep!!! Yippee! She is 28.4 pounds (91 percentile) and 33.8 inches tall (95 percentile). Dr. Stone did find a heart murmur today and assured me it was nothing to worry about. He said that she would more than likely grow out of it and he would check it every time she comes. She received her MMR shot today and did great! She cried for about 30 seconds and then was back to normal. I was sort of surprised that my wild child was a little shy today. She was doing the whole "turn your head into mommy's neck" thing when someone would talk to her. After that, she would look back at them and smile the biggest smile. Waverly is talking up a storm, using countless words, phrases, and has even said a couple of very short sentences, example-"I want a bow". She is running everywhere, singing her ABC's, counting from 1-5 with help, and is just the sweetest thing I have ever seen. We are so lucky to have this perfect little person!

Fever!

Yesterday evening, Waverly seemed a little cranky and wanted to be with her mommy even more than normal. I didn't think too much of it because she was up late Saturday night and up bright and early Sunday morning. I just thought she was worn out and exhausted. Well, after dinner on Sunday she was very tired and felt warm. I took her temperature and it was 99.7, so I put on her pajamas and she went right to bed almost an hour early. She woke up this morning with a 99.2 fever, so Stuart stayed home with her today. She had a fever early this afternoon, but did not have one when she went to bed. I am hoping that she will wake up tomorrow morning her usual cheerful self. Stuart is going to be out town for a few days and my mom won't be here until Thursday, so I am hoping she will be alright. It is so hard when you have such a healthy baby that is never sick, and when they do get sick it is so pitiful. Not to mention that you live 8 hours away from any grandparents that could help you. Keep your fingers crossed that she will bounce back quickly.

Fun, Fun 3-Day Weekend

Luckily, this weekend was a long weekend and more time to have fun. Saturday, we went to lunch with Waverly's BFF, Hadley, and her mom, Alisa. Of course, we had a blast and the girls were WILD! After lunch, we strolled to Forsyth Park, took the girls out of their strollers, and let them rip!! They ran around, laughed, chased each other, and had to look at every single dog that walked by!

On Sunday, Stuart & I took Waverly and Banks for a picnic. The weather was gorgeous and we had so much fun. We packed a lunch, a few beers for daddy, and a little wine for mommy, and had the best time. Waverly played with Banks, checked out the fountains, went swinging, and had an overall blast!

After we came home from our picnic and Waverly took a nap, she helped her daddy rake leaves in the backyard. He would rake and she would mess up his pile of leaves. :) She is such a good little helper. She thought she was so big and all she wanted to do was hold the rake.

More teeth......

Waverly has been struggling for the past week with a new tooth coming in. Once this one is in it will be her 11th tooth! Overall, she has done a pretty good job with the exception of some major stinky diapers. She had a pretty bad diaper rash because of her upset stomach. She is finally getting back to normal and now we have to work on sleeping through the night.....again. She gets used to us coming to get her and now she still wants our attention at 1:00 am. She will back to normal in a couple of day, I am sure.

Snow!!!

When we were in Elizabeth City for Christmas several of inches of snow fell! It snowed last January in Georgia, but only an inch or two at the most. Needless to say, Waverly does not remember that and it wasn't enough to play in. When we ventured out into the snow, Waverly was so excited and very eager to run around. With the help of her Uncle Jeff, she had a great time playing in the snow, falling down, and being silly. The snow was very beautiful and I quickly remembered how messy melting snow can be. I do wish it snowed more often in Savannah.

Happy New Year!!!

One of my many new year's resolutions is to update my blog at least once a week! I was doing so well in the beginning and I have been slacking off for quite some time.

Waverly had a wonderful 2nd Christmas and New Year! It sounds so odd to say 2nd anything! ha ha! Our sweet, little baby is now 17 months old going on 17 years old. Waverly is talking up a storm and literally running all over the place!

Waverly received so many wonderful gifts for Christmas. Here are a few pictures...

I am so glad that we went home a few days before Christmas. On Christmas morning, my maternal grandmother, Evelyn Spruill Malieswski "Baggy", passed away in her sleep. We are all still in shock and can't believe she is gone. Baggy was doing so well and was in great spirits the days before Christmas. Waverly would visit her nightly, crawl in her bed, eat peanut butter cookies, and have girl talk. Baggy was so excited to have her Waverly with her! Even though, I miss her terribly and think about her all day, I am relieved that she did not suffer or was in any pain. She was such a beautiful person and I will miss her more than words can describe. My grandad, "Papa", worshipped the ground Baggy walked on. During 61 years of marriage he loved her just as much as the day they were married. When Papa spoke at the service, I thought to myself that I hope Stuart & I are still in love like that when we are in our 80s.
